Whatever Happened to...

Posted on September 4, 2015
With summer now come and gone, some of you might be wondering, "Whatever happened to the [CAT] survey we took atthe beginning of summer?"   Please allow me to share:  The Church Assessment Tool or CAT was sent out by the Long Range Planning Team this past June as a way to hear from the congregation themost pressing needs and interests that must be taken into consideration when developing a long range plan.  In July theresults of the assessment were shared with the team in a thirty seven-page document that outlined the results of the168 separate responses.

While more details from this assessment will be shared when the long-range plan is brought before the congregation towards the end of the year, it is my joy to share with you that the results of the assessment included many reasons to celebrate!  Overall, the results shared that Christ the Kingis a congregation with both high energy and satisfaction, making us ready to embrace a five-year plan. What's more, we are in agreement across thespectrum regarding our top priorities as we look to the future. These realities should make applying our long-range plan that much easier.

However, some of the most important information that came to light through the survey included honest feedback pertaining to how we see ourselves as a community. Daily devotions, our worship and music life together, involvement beyond worship, friendliness and meaningful spiritual experiences are just a few things that came to the surface as that which shapes our identity at CTK. Obviously, the complete assessment included more details, but where CTK feels most at "home" is when we are sharing many of the traditional hallmarks of Christian community. For me, like many of you, this does not come as a surprise!  We are a community that is centered on the Good News of Jesus Christ - the Gospel. Indeed, it is atthe very heart of who we are and what we are called to do.

As we look to the future, the long range planning team expects to be wrapping up its responsibilities and presenting council with a plan in thenext two months.  Council will then take up the reins and guide us in theimplementation of what looks to be an exciting and Spirit led future!

Grace and Peace,
Pr. Erik
