Well Done? Or Well Done!

Posted on August 21, 2015
It doesn't seem like much of a difference - to go from a question mark to an exclamation point. Visually it's just straightening out the curve of thequestion, but as we all know, they couldn't be farther apart in meaning.

Take for example our current well building project. For the past few weeks we have moved closer and closer toward meeting our $2500 goal. As we enter into the last weekend of the project, we are only $350 away from meeting that goal. Or to put it another way we are only $350 away from changing the question into an exclamation: "Is the well done?" to "Thewell is done!" Each sentence uses the same words but I think we can all agree there's more joy to be found in the latter!

We heard when we began the project, building a well in a community that lacks clean drinking water is an amazing gift. Not only does it save time and provide opportunities for continued community development, it also saves lives. The gift of clean drinking water is the first step in eliminating water born illness and reducing the approximately 840,000[1] water related disease deaths a year.

This week we can make a difference worth shouting about. Each $10 donation adds a brick to our well and furthers the good work that we, through the ELCA, are doing around the world. Let's respond to God's call together. Let's hear our Master say, "Well done, good and faithful servants!"

Grace and Peace,
Pr. Erik
