Rally Day

Posted on August 7, 2015

Having recently returned from Disney World, one of the things that I had forgotten about the Disney experience was the number of parades that take place each day in the park. There were character parades, float parades, marching band parades and probably several other parades that we missed during our stay. It seems that if it has something to do with Disney, chances are it'll make it into a parade - or two...

As I stood watching an evening light parade, I couldn't help but think about how all these parades really fit into the whole culture that is Disney World. Not only do they generate interest and excitement in the characters (people were staking out their parade spot three hours in advance of that particular parade), but they also help create an atmosphere of celebration that fills the whole park.

This Sunday, we will be having our own celebration of sorts at Christ the King as we prepare for the start of Sunday School with our annual Rally Day. Although we will not be having a parade through the church, we will have opportunities for the children to celebrate and get excited for the beginning of Sunday School and the whole year ahead. What's more, we are inviting students of all ages to bring their backpack to worship for a blessing as the school year begins.

Indeed, as I look at the school year ahead, I can't help but think of the excitement that is in the air and how Rally Day is just the beginning. It's the first of many opportunities this school year for us to share how God's love influences our lives. And in doing so, we will continue to build up the foundation for that excitement to grow well into the future. So come and take part - experience the excitement that awaits!

Grace and Peace,
Pr. Erik
